Shorah!

[hide](03/01 01:10:46) Chat.log aktiviert...
(03/01 01:10:47) Geert: ?
(03/01 01:10:47) Paul: is the option of cycling the 5 reps possible?...
(03/01 01:10:50) Cycreim: Let's nominate the Bahro, they were pretty good servants. :|
(03/01 01:10:55) Geron: right, olrec!
(03/01 01:10:59) Vormaen: Unlike our country today( usa), Uru has a lot of opportunity
(03/01 01:10:59) ireenquench roars with laughter
(03/01 01:11:02) Vormaen: lol
(03/01 01:11:04) Cycreim: Ow stop hitting me. :(
(03/01 01:11:17) Taba: they don't seem to let the power go to their heads, either ;)
(03/01 01:11:45) Cycreim: They don't really seem interested in us explorers, though.
(03/01 01:11:46) Legacy: I dunno...The Bahro are kind of creepy...and do they even speak english?
(03/01 01:11:48) Vormaen: Rand, what would Cyan do if things got out of hand with this new "role?"
(03/01 01:11:51) Rand: ireen brough up communication earlier - i think that's what this is about
(03/01 01:12:14) Veralun: as long as ppl talk about power it will not succeed
(03/01 01:12:34) Vormaen: There will be none of that, that's not what it's about
(03/01 01:12:36) Cycreim: I think we can come up with new and interesting plays on democracy for these representatives, you know...
(03/01 01:12:40) Rand: olrac - not bad - just too soon?
(03/01 01:12:45) Geert: uru needs guidance to develop
(03/01 01:12:54) Jahuti: How about calling it a "liason group" rather tha representatives?
(03/01 01:12:55) Vormaen: Rand, it's about everyone wanting their equal share of being a part of this story
(03/01 01:12:55) Taba: yes, Veralun, this shouldn't be about power, this should be about communicating with the DRC and helpin=g the community grow
(03/01 01:12:58) Rand: this may be just a start
(03/01 01:13:17) Rand: vormaen - good point

(03/01 01:13:29) Geert: guidance is not power
(03/01 01:13:32) Vormaen: Think about how live was
(03/01 01:13:40) Veralun: thats what I think Rand, but can the ppl here show that they are beable to do so?
(03/01 01:13:40) Cycreim: Yeah this is about power in a way. I know I'd love to be a part of forwarding Uru's story, getting my name in lights like Brian did in Sharper's journal...
(03/01 01:13:41) Altydwarber: shorah
(03/01 01:13:48) Jewel: hi Alty :)
(03/01 01:13:58) Geert: Shorah alty
(03/01 01:13:58) Rand: but having five reps may actually let more people take part in the story
(03/01 01:13:59) ireenquench: I don't like the word guidance in this context, Geert.
(03/01 01:14:01) Veralun: hi Alty
(03/01 01:14:02) Vormaen: I was so desperate to be a part of the story, I wasn't myself.......people will do such things.
(03/01 01:14:21) Vormaen: Yeah.
(03/01 01:14:25) Jewel: I read a nice posting of yours in UO Vormaen, lol
(03/01 01:14:36) Vormaen: Oh....hehe really
(03/01 01:14:41) Cycreim: Being famous here down in the Cavern and having people flock to me whenever I showed up in a hood... Oh boy Cycreim is on! Oh boy let's all go bother him with questions and demands!
(03/01 01:14:52) Cycreim: But uh really that is not what should happen is it?
(03/01 01:15:00) Vormaen: THAT is exactly what I mean
(03/01 01:15:16) Vormaen: no, it shouldn't, but look and B. Fioca
(03/01 01:15:30) Rand: not as much fun as it seems cycreim :)
(03/01 01:15:31) Cycreim: Brian's been really good about it.
(03/01 01:15:33) Geert: or plinthon btw
(03/01 01:15:34) Vormaen: He is forever in the Sharper journal
(03/01 01:15:36) Geron: some ppl would like such a role
(03/01 01:15:40) Vormaen: true he has.
(03/01 01:15:44) Taba: perhaps we could set up another means to contact the reps to have our voices heard through them?
(03/01 01:15:58) Taba: without buggin them in the cavern, I mean
(03/01 01:16:06) ireenquench: what do you mean Taba?
(03/01 01:16:09) Rand: if everyone was famous - no one would be famous
(03/01 01:16:10) Vormaen: Have the Reps bring a guest for such meetings?
(03/01 01:16:13) Cycreim: If there was some way to satisfy everyone in that way...
(03/01 01:16:16) Cycreim: Yeah exactly Rand.
(03/01 01:16:27) Geert: Like that rand
(03/01 01:16:28) Vormaen: lol heard that before Rand.....The INcredibles?
(03/01 01:16:34) Vormaen: lol
(03/01 01:16:38) Taba: like a subforum to the DRC fourm, or an email contact, or something like that
(03/01 01:17:17) Cycreim: Haha, but that's the concept! An explorer could say, "Oh, it was me who got this bridge set up." or "I left this note on this table in this Age."
(03/01 01:17:20) Rand: be good if the reps had a way to hear from the explorers
(03/01 01:17:29) ireenquench: A good question, would the function be more forum or more Cavern based.
(03/01 01:17:32) Emyn: That's a good idea--a more orderly form of communication instead of pestering the leaders here all the time
(03/01 01:17:33) Geert: Just how would URU develop with just representitives
(03/01 01:17:41) Taba: we'd have to be able to post to it, so they would know what we wanted
(03/01 01:17:50) Cycreim: It's sort of what was started with the imagers.
(03/01 01:17:53) Vormaen: Everyone wants to be immortized here
(03/01 01:18:01) Geron: must be forum based, just think of the timezones, Ireen
(03/01 01:18:07) Cycreim: Exactly, Vormaen.
(03/01 01:18:14) Cycreim: Is there a way for that to be possible, though?
(03/01 01:18:15) Vormaen: Look at current MMO The Matrix online
(03/01 01:18:17) Taba: I'm happy to just be able to talk to the Cyantists on occasion :)
(03/01 01:18:17) Geert: Will they decide upon the development of the cavern?
(03/01 01:18:46) Rand: uh.... :)
(03/01 01:19:10) Rand: go ahead olrac

(03/01 01:19:11) Vormaen: A little off topic, but Rand, if I submit my Uru Comic to Cyan will you be reading it?
(03/01 01:19:12) Jewel: oooooh this is not a game, this is an office meeting :(
(03/01 01:19:21) Vormaen: lol
(03/01 01:19:25) Geert: how do you see further expansion of the game l?
(03/01 01:19:29) Taba: offices have comfier chairs
(03/01 01:19:36) Jewel: lol
(03/01 01:19:40) Rand: jewel - how much have you explored?
(03/01 01:19:43) Cycreim: Is that a question for all of us, Geert?
(03/01 01:19:51) Vormaen: yeah, my butt is getting numb
(03/01 01:19:56) Jewel: oooh everything inside and out, been here every single day since Live LOL
(03/01 01:20:00) Geert: Yes and espescially for rand
(03/01 01:20:31) Geert: Somewher the cavern will have to develop
(03/01 01:20:32) Rand: i hope we get a chance to see Uru expand - fingers crossed
(03/01 01:20:38) Jewel cheers
(03/01 01:20:39) Geert: Not only by politics but also as a game
(03/01 01:20:40) Taba: oh, I've got a "rabid fan" question for you, Rand...
(03/01 01:20:44) Rand: more places for Jewel to explore
(03/01 01:20:45) Cycreim: I'd personally like to see this continue in the way it always has...
(03/01 01:20:49) Rand: more office meetings
(03/01 01:20:58) Rand: more people

(03/01 01:20:59) Vormaen: OK, hope this goes well, I have to go tempt Moke with more Pizza!
(03/01 01:21:01) Geert: I know rand and i keep my fingers crossed
(03/01 01:21:03) Jewel: WHEEEEEEEEEEEE :) Oh no :(
(03/01 01:21:03) Geron: :)
(03/01 01:21:04) Rand: more conflict? :)
(03/01 01:21:11) Rand: more puzzles

(03/01 01:21:12) Cycreim: More conflict, yeah!
(03/01 01:21:16) Cycreim: But the good kind.
(03/01 01:21:25) ireenquench: and I hope it will expand like this, exploring with others
(03/01 01:21:28) Ivy: fingers and eyes crossed :)
(03/01 01:21:28) Geert: mor choice that is lol
(03/01 01:21:29) Vormaen: More worlds to explore
(03/01 01:21:30) Jewel: Hope to see the city expand and book appear :)
(03/01 01:21:31) Rand: something for everyone
(03/01 01:21:32) Toria: Can I suggest for the player representives that a forum be set up with short bios, and then vote for the top 5?
(03/01 01:21:38) Geron: i wish my real life office was as nice as Uru office
(03/01 01:21:39) Cycreim: More permanence to the actions of explorers...
(03/01 01:21:46) Vormaen: already set up on DRC forums
(03/01 01:22:28) Cycreim: Risks...
(03/01 01:22:31) Vormaen: Just waiting for people to post their reasons for being the best candidates.
(03/01 01:22:33) Paul: can the DRC reps be rotated ? so a new 5 every so offten?
(03/01 01:22:34) Geert: still believe the basics of Uru were good
(03/01 01:22:43) Geert: It leaded to conflict
(03/01 01:23:01) Jewel: /gives everybody coffee and a chocolate cake
(03/01 01:23:07) Geron: we all do, Geert. We wouldnt be so crazy about it otherwise
(03/01 01:23:08) Taba: yum!
(03/01 01:23:12) Geert: thx jewl :)
(03/01 01:23:15) Rand: mmmmmmm
(03/01 01:23:16) Cycreim: That sounds delicious. :)
(03/01 01:23:23) Altydwarber: thank you Jewel
(03/01 01:23:27) Vormaen: I was comfortable with what was given to us on a daily basis, don't know why it has to change
(03/01 01:23:36) Emyn: I love chocolate... :-)
(03/01 01:23:37) Toria: Where's the donuts? Ha haha
(03/01 01:23:44) Emyn: lol
(03/01 01:23:48) Toria: that Easter Egg
(03/01 01:23:51) Mellina: mmmm, chocolate
(03/01 01:23:52) Toria: lol
(03/01 01:23:53) Jewel: yw :) and donuts are on the heek table
(03/01 01:23:55) Cycreim: what do you mean, Vormaen?
(03/01 01:23:55) Taba starts to laugh
(03/01 01:24:11) Geert: rand , why should it be changed?
(03/01 01:24:14) Vormaen: I mean the DRC opening things when they were ready, without our input
(03/01 01:24:38) Vormaen: It was a certain DS that bugged things out
(03/01 01:24:42) Geert: Let the community grow like in live
(03/01 01:24:47) Rand: You mean Uru - why should it be changed?
(03/01 01:25:00) Cycreim: Because there was good reason to believe they were doing that because they had something to hide, Vormaen.
(03/01 01:25:07) Geert: Yes the basics which wer presented
(03/01 01:25:26) Vormaen: I believe the DRC visiting random explorers for input would be more than enough for info into our wants and desires.
(03/01 01:25:43) Taba: I think this may be a good way to maybe let the community show what they want, and maybe that will influence the DRC to open up places that the explorers want to see most
(03/01 01:25:50) Rand: i like change personally - keeps me wondering what around the next corner
(03/01 01:26:00) ireenquench nods her head
(03/01 01:26:01) Toria: yes, very true Rand
(03/01 01:26:07) Emyn: I agree
(03/01 01:26:09) Cycreim: That's a good point, Vor. Somethign to be considered...
(03/01 01:26:12) Vormaen: So does that mean you'll rething the whole Myst V ending? lol
(03/01 01:26:17) Rand: sometimes it's not something good - but I like wondering
(03/01 01:26:20) Geert: Agree on that, but the story is to my opinion
(03/01 01:26:33) Geert: It is flexible enough
(03/01 01:26:34) Cycreim: It's not about the ending, it's about the journey!
(03/01 01:26:35) Mellina: lol, Vormaen
(03/01 01:26:43) Cycreim: It all comes together, doesn't it?
(03/01 01:26:45) Vormaen: I know! hehe
(03/01 01:26:53) Toria: Congrats on winning some GIN awards for Myst V btw
(03/01 01:27:09) Rand: yeah - that was cool - thanks toria
(03/01 01:27:10) Geron claps his hands
(03/01 01:27:16) Vormaen: I think if Live came back the Myst V story could totally change, but that's totally up to you rand.
(03/01 01:27:31) Geert: v is 5 couldn't be better
(03/01 01:27:39) Taba: perhaps what happened in myst v was on another branch of the great tree?
(03/01 01:27:42) Cycreim: Haha we should cross that bridge when we come to it, probably.
(03/01 01:27:42) Vormaen: Just you always say the ending hasn't been written
(03/01 01:28:13) Vormaen: Just like my spelling may not always be this bad....
(03/01 01:28:27) Rand: there are plenty of stories to tell in Uru - just got to get the chance
(03/01 01:28:38) Cycreim: The potential I see in this is that we've got this wonderful world, thousands if not millions of D'ni across many generations...
(03/01 01:28:39) Rand: yep
(03/01 01:28:53) Cycreim: It doesn't stop and start with the story of Atrus and his family, right?
(03/01 01:28:56) Toria: When will you know more about the negotiations with Ubisosft?
(03/01 01:29:08) Geert: again i just see us waiting and inventing all kind of things to pass the time
(03/01 01:29:18) Vormaen: But Esher was in the Uru story...in a letter, but he became the focal point in MV
(03/01 01:29:34) Vormaen: Ugh....Ubi
(03/01 01:29:36) Geert: Still think you presented with live the playground
(03/01 01:29:50) Cycreim: I like that term for it, Geert. A playground.
(03/01 01:30:01) Vormaen: Other than Myst V and IV I don't buy from Ubi anymore
(03/01 01:30:15) Geert: forget ubi
(03/01 01:30:20) Geert: It is past
(03/01 01:30:23) Mellina: are there any other games anyway? ;)
(03/01 01:30:24) Vormaen: I try to on a daily basis
(03/01 01:30:30) Jewel: lol
(03/01 01:30:35) Vormaen: nope.....Uru is more than enough for me
(03/01 01:30:48) Vormaen: butt going numb too?
(03/01 01:30:48) Rand: Uru is getting some support from an un-named company right now
(03/01 01:30:49) Jewel: yes the floor is very cold isn't it :(
(03/01 01:30:58) Vormaen: Yeah baby!
(03/01 01:31:02) Cycreim: That is GREAT!
(03/01 01:31:05) Toria: okay
(03/01 01:31:09) Taba: awesome!
(03/01 01:31:12) Rand: they are helping a bit - to see if they want to help more
(03/01 01:31:13) Vormaen: Do they enjoy the experience Rand?
(03/01 01:31:18) Geert: What can we do to make the difference rand
(03/01 01:31:27) Cycreim: Yeah, if anything.
(03/01 01:31:29) Rand: more would be good
(03/01 01:31:30) Taba: yes, how can we help?
(03/01 01:31:30) ireenquench: we should really run down their doors
(03/01 01:31:31) Rand: for Uru
(03/01 01:31:39) Geert: I really hope for a good investor
(03/01 01:31:39) Vormaen: Ask me for 30 bucks a month or more, I'd gladly pay it
(03/01 01:31:42) Taba: me too!
(03/01 01:31:43) Rand: :)
(03/01 01:31:44) Geron: they will not base their decisions on joy, I am afraid, but on figures
(03/01 01:31:46) Jewel: get all your friends, family, colleages and strangers in here hehe
(03/01 01:32:01) Vormaen: Go ahead....ask me...PLEASE!
(03/01 01:32:05) Rand: send invites to people who have Uru - that always helps
(03/01 01:32:11) Rand: help them feel the call :)
(03/01 01:32:12) Cycreim: I've been getting some friends to try Uru. It's so inexpensive now there's no reason not to...
(03/01 01:32:14) Toria: yes, I have.
(03/01 01:32:26) Vormaen: Just bought a copy for my mom, my brother, my sister......
(03/01 01:32:27) Geert: I will
(03/01 01:32:36) Mellina: I have friends who would gladly join
(03/01 01:32:37) Jewel: tell them (sorry Rand) that Uru is very very cheap right now, less then 10 dollars, 8 euros
(03/01 01:32:40) Cycreim: And, if they like it, off goes the invite.
(03/01 01:32:44) Toria: sadly some of the friends from Prologue don't answer emails :(
(03/01 01:32:51) Taba: I'm giving my dad my spare copy of Uru... and will be sending him an invite soon
(03/01 01:32:55) Rand: cool
(03/01 01:32:59) Geert: Just show it and give the feeling of community growth
(03/01 01:32:59) Veralun: is it more ppl you want or is it something else Rand?
(03/01 01:33:09) Rand: Myst has great fans!!
(03/01 01:33:10) Cycreim: A lot of them just won't play unless it's perfect, though... sucks to their assmar, as far as I'm concerned.
(03/01 01:33:28) Vormaen: Half of New Mexico knwos about Uru thanks to my big mouth
(03/01 01:33:36) Geert: The inventor has great fans :)
(03/01 01:33:45) Geron nods his head
(03/01 01:33:54) Toria: yes, in that radio interview you said that Rand! Thanks for praising us, the Myst fans
(03/01 01:33:58) Toria claps her hands
(03/01 01:34:02) Vormaen: Obviously your kids love Uru as well, right rand?
(03/01 01:34:03) Rand: The company is looking at lots of factors - including people
(03/01 01:34:09) Mellina: Besides getting the word out, is there anything else we should do?
(03/01 01:34:25) Rand: Can't get my daughter out of the cavern these days
(03/01 01:34:30) Jewel: yes come in here
(03/01 01:34:32) Von Quin: time for news ;)
(03/01 01:34:33) Veralun: great we can bring you ppl, can we do more?
(03/01 01:34:35) Geron: lol
(03/01 01:34:36) Cycreim: Haha
(03/01 01:34:39) Geert: Is there a plan of real good marketing rand
(03/01 01:34:46) Geron: another addict? hehe
(03/01 01:34:49) Cycreim: I should try the "oh, just try it for five minutes." tactic.
(03/01 01:34:50) Vormaen: I know it's hard......in this day and age where everyone wants rpg mmos...waste of TIME in my mind
(03/01 01:34:51) Jewel: even though there is nothing new.... yet
(03/01 01:34:52) ireenquench: Rand, re they looking at people as in numbers or people as in what they do here?
(03/01 01:34:58) Rand: i think if Uru grows again it would be grassroots
(03/01 01:35:00) Ivy: I got my son in here... but has to play on MY pc... keeps me out :(
(03/01 01:35:14) Cycreim: Uru is so indie!
(03/01 01:35:31) Rand: kind of appropriate in a way
(03/01 01:35:39) Vormaen: Rand, is there anyway that advertising would be greater this time round than with Ubi?
(03/01 01:35:43) Geert: Uru to my opinion is the best concept ever
(03/01 01:35:46) Taba: it's so refreshingly diffrent from other shoot-em-up mmos
(03/01 01:35:58) Geert: And as it says it has to grow
(03/01 01:36:07) Geron: some fans are still reluctant to get online ...
(03/01 01:36:16) Vormaen: Too bad a lot of people has attention spans of ----- this much
(03/01 01:36:21) Jewel: I got my Mom in here, after two years of nagging, wheeeeeeeeeee :)
(03/01 01:36:23) Jahuti: I note that there are a lot of Uru-like possibilities..
(03/01 01:36:29) Toria: I just wish my husband would understand why I like this place so much....
(03/01 01:36:31) Toria: LOL
(03/01 01:36:38) Rand: just need a committment to the restoration by the comany - so more areas can be opened ;)
(03/01 01:36:40) Taba: same here, Toria!
(03/01 01:36:45) Geert: you can't explain toria
(03/01 01:36:47) Cycreim: Haha, tell him to play "for five minutes", Toria. :)
(03/01 01:36:51) Vormaen: I like the sound of that!
(03/01 01:36:57) Emyn: I just started with the online part after D'mala, and I love it here.
(03/01 01:36:57) Geert: Let him join and he will feel it
(03/01 01:36:58) Toria: since HE was the one who bought me the Myst game!
(03/01 01:37:00) Toria: ha haha
(03/01 01:37:11) Cycreim: Well, our hopes are with you and Cyan, Rand. :)
(03/01 01:37:33) Rand: my favorite part of Uru is coming to the newest hood and finding people who might just be starting
(03/01 01:37:41) Rand: that's fun for me
(03/01 01:37:48) Mellina: We all have something in common, a love for URU
(03/01 01:37:48) Vormaen: Well Rand, Nice to finally meet you, I gotta go bug Moke now
(03/01 01:37:51) Rand: thanks cy
(03/01 01:37:54) Geert: Wished we all could bring up the money to let URU succeed
(03/01 01:38:03) Toria: yes, fingers crossed, toes crossed and hoping. yes, that's a blast helping somebody new
(03/01 01:38:10) Cycreim: My favourite part is helping other people with their Ages.
(03/01 01:38:10) Rand: i've got to head out - thanks for chatting
(03/01 01:38:14) Emyn: It was so neat to start and meet you so soon after, Rand
(03/01 01:38:17) Vormaen: I'll send the Uru comic to you guys when it's done for your blessing
(03/01 01:38:20) Emyn: Good luck
(03/01 01:38:21) Jewel: bye Rand, thanks
(03/01 01:38:25) Cycreim: Thanks for coming by, Rand! It's always great to have you down here!

Log mit Ryan Miller über die Aufgabe 5 Repräsentanten als "Liaison" zwischen DRC und den Forschern zu entsenden. (nur ganz leicht bereinigt, grad keine Zeit rsjm fett zu setzen)

[hide](03/01 22:29:31) Chat.log started...
(03/01 22:31:10) rsjm: so who doesn't like the whole voting idea?
(03/01 22:31:16) ireenquench: Ryan can I ask you some questions about the DRC?
(03/01 22:31:20) rsjm: sure
(03/01 22:31:55) ireenquench: OK, what would happen if the explorers decided they did not want to provide those reps
(03/01 22:31:59) Julian Lapis: Ryan? Is that Ryan as in Ryan Miller?
(03/01 22:32:05) rsjm: Not sure.
(03/01 22:32:16) rsjm: I guess you wouldn't have reps to the DRC
(03/01 22:32:24) rsjm: and things would go on as they do now
(03/01 22:32:58) ireenquench: Hm, but they would not force us to have any?
(03/01 22:33:12) rsjm: I can't speak for them but I'm not sure they can force you
(03/01 22:33:21) ireenquench nods her head
(03/01 22:33:26) rsjm: I have a feeling that there would be five people who would volunteer though
(03/01 22:33:29) rsjm: and they would be the ones
(03/01 22:33:31) Julian Lapis: Hmm. I personally think it would be a good idea
(03/01 22:33:44) rsjm: I doubt you can force no one to volunteer for the positions either
(03/01 22:33:52) Julian Lapis: That was the one thing that bugged me about the DRC
(03/01 22:34:22) ireenquench: that's true, but theoretically the explorers could say nay to the offer
(03/01 22:34:32) Julian Lapis: Im sure that a lot of the anite-DRC sentiment stemmed from the lack of communication between the two
(03/01 22:34:40) rsjm: theoretically but not practically
(03/01 22:34:49) rsjm: I would guess there will be 5 people.
(03/01 22:34:52) ireenquench laughs
(03/01 22:34:55) rsjm: Just a question of who.
(03/01 22:35:06) rsjm: But who knows...
(03/01 22:35:10) ireenquench: I am guessing a lot more than 5 would volunteer.
(03/01 22:35:14) Julian Lapis: Same here
(03/01 22:35:22) ireenquench: It is a difficult task.
(03/01 22:35:33) rsjm: I agree.
(03/01 22:35:34) Daryl Huhn: There is some really...heated debates going on over on the DRC forums...
(03/01 22:35:40) rsjm: Yeah, I know.
(03/01 22:35:41) Sam Byard: rsjm do you know if they are looking for the big names or little people as well
(03/01 22:35:44) Julian Lapis: It would have to be reflective of the community though
(03/01 22:35:48) Andrew Yosso: And uru obbsesions
(03/01 22:35:52) rsjm: They are looking for who you are looking for.
(03/01 22:35:54) rsjm: It's up to you.
(03/01 22:35:59) ireenquench: Alone the process of figuring out how to pick or elect is very difficult.
(03/01 22:35:59) rsjm: They'll take whatever 5 you give them.
(03/01 22:36:13) Julian Lapis: Im guessing it will take some time
(03/01 22:36:19) rsjm: Yeah I agree.
(03/01 22:36:28) rsjm: It's not an easy one they've put on you.
(03/01 22:36:32) Sam Byard: as wee all know Supergran, Tijara, CAGreywolf, Tweek and others would be seen as good choices
(03/01 22:36:35) Julian Lapis: These things always need to be worked out carefully
(03/01 22:36:40) ireenquench: I think the DRC is maybe forthcoming but just outsourcing.
(03/01 22:36:50) Daryl Huhn: To be honest with you, I really didn't think this particular community would divide on this issue.
(03/01 22:36:56) Sam Byard: but i'm not shure thats the best thing
(03/01 22:37:06) ireenquench: mybe not so much forthcoming i meant, sorry
(03/01 22:37:08) Vormaen: I say get it over with.....
(03/01 22:37:12) Julian Lapis: Well, its too good an oppertunity to pass up
(03/01 22:37:16) Sam Byard: it will settle out
(03/01 22:37:29) Vormaen: It has become too high profile
(03/01 22:37:33) Daryl Huhn: Vormaen, I saw your posts...I do agree with you on many points.
(03/01 22:37:44) Julian Lapis: Some direct contact with the two would open up a lot of doors
(03/01 22:37:51) Vormaen: I think most people think I'm an a.........well
(03/01 22:37:57) Daryl Huhn: I know
(03/01 22:38:01) Daryl Huhn: No need to say it
(03/01 22:38:02) Julian Lapis: And maybe cool down a lot of the DRC bashers
(03/01 22:38:09) rsjm: Like I said, there are going to be 5 people, just a question of which 5.
(03/01 22:38:16) Andrew Yosso: What about having 5 for so long, then leting 5 more take over and so on?
(03/01 22:38:16) rsjm: In my opinion
(03/01 22:38:25) Vormaen: that is the tough part RSJM
(03/01 22:38:27) Julian Lapis: Circulate them, sorta thing?
(03/01 22:38:45) Daryl Huhn: rsjm, is there no room for flexibility on this matter?
(03/01 22:38:46) Julian Lapis: Could work. Hypothetically
(03/01 22:38:51) Andrew Yosso: Ok
(03/01 22:38:56) ireenquench: I wonder who else will be a force in Cavern, besides DRC and us. I think there should be another "whatever", like Yeesha, like sharper, like the bahro.
(03/01 22:39:02) rsjm: I can't speak for them directly but what are you thinking?
(03/01 22:39:03) Julian Lapis: But if its tough enough picking them this time around
(03/01 22:39:20) Andrew Yosso: True
(03/01 22:39:24) rsjm: And what if the first 5 don't want to give up their status?
(03/01 22:39:25) Daryl Huhn: I was thinking of a rotational cycle, we, the community would control.
(03/01 22:39:33) rsjm: Or what if you find 5 who want to do it permanently?
(03/01 22:39:33) Vormaen: Too bad
(03/01 22:39:35) Andrew Yosso: good point
(03/01 22:39:37) Julian Lapis: There's a point
(03/01 22:39:40) Daryl Huhn: That the DRC would approve on
(03/01 22:39:51) Daryl Huhn: and therefore make it official for us to do so
(03/01 22:39:52) Julian Lapis: Power does corrupt
(03/01 22:39:54) zam: Hehe i see the topid is the s lol
(03/01 22:39:54) Vormaen: too many issues, but this is unavoidable by now
(03/01 22:39:58) zam: 5s
(03/01 22:39:58) Julian Lapis: Although its still damn fun
(03/01 22:40:08) ireenquench: Currently people are undecided if they should do a prejoice by community then a lottery, or just do a voting.
(03/01 22:40:11) Daryl Huhn: Nothing worth while is without its work
(03/01 22:40:12) rsjm: Would the DRC choose 5 who were permanent over 5 who were temp? I don't know.
(03/01 22:40:17) Vormaen: I was getting to hot on the forums, came here to cool down
(03/01 22:40:18) D'Lanor: power? being a DRC puppet?
(03/01 22:40:27) Vormaen: yuck
(03/01 22:40:28) Julian Lapis: No. That would be a bad thing
(03/01 22:40:30) Vormaen: puppet
(03/01 22:40:55) Daryl Huhn: rsjm, I was just thinking it would actually benefit the DRC that way.
(03/01 22:40:58) zam: I like fluffy toys better than puppet
(03/01 22:40:58) Julian Lapis: That would imply the DRC want to know what we are thinking
(03/01 22:41:10) rsjm: It may - I don't know what they would say.
(03/01 22:41:19) ireenquench: Do you think we could ask the DRC they should pick?
(03/01 22:41:26) ireenquench: those 5?
(03/01 22:41:29) rsjm: It seems like more work though in a way - how are you going to decide the rotation, etc...
(03/01 22:41:31) Vormaen: They'll let us know
(03/01 22:41:33) Julian Lapis: Then there will be allegations of favouritsm
(03/01 22:41:42) Julian Lapis: We want this to be as impartial as possible
(03/01 22:41:43) Vormaen: hmmmmmmm
(03/01 22:41:55) Julian Lapis: This may be our only chance at something like this
(03/01 22:41:57) rsjm: I don't think the DRC should pick the 5. They are never down here to know 5 good people anyway
(03/01 22:42:08) Julian Lapis: I think its gotta be done right, if it is to be done at all
(03/01 22:42:09) rsjm: You guys are better off picking the 5 then having them do it
(03/01 22:42:13) ireenquench: That is true.
(03/01 22:42:28) ireenquench: That they don't know us well I mean.
(03/01 22:42:37) Julian Lapis: That would be an understatement
(03/01 22:42:39) rsjm: And maybe they wouldn't even pick 5?
(03/01 22:42:48) ireenquench laughs
(03/01 22:42:49) rsjm: They'd just assume that meant you don't want the reps
(03/01 22:42:55) rsjm: who knows...
(03/01 22:42:58) Daryl Huhn: rsjm, that is true...however I still feel it would better service everyone here if it was somehow rotated...surely more then 5 of us have been here since we were first welcomed to the cavern.
(03/01 22:43:04) Julian Lapis: Its difficult
(03/01 22:43:06) Vormaen: They are a difficlut bunch
(03/01 22:43:12) Vormaen: difficult
(03/01 22:43:17) Julian Lapis: Its not something that can be rushed, I think
(03/01 22:43:21) rsjm: True, but it's not just about who has been here the longest
(03/01 22:43:28) ireenquench: WE are the far more difficult bunch.
(03/01 22:43:29) Daryl Huhn: Right right
(03/01 22:43:30) Vormaen: that is my point exactly
(03/01 22:43:30) zam: When you vote OOc you don't vote for rotating ?
(03/01 22:43:45) Vormaen: this may be permanent
(03/01 22:43:45) zam: Hehe i can imagine a country with a rotating president
(03/01 22:43:47) Julian Lapis: We may not know if the system even works
(03/01 22:43:49) zam roars with laughter
(03/01 22:44:02) Julian Lapis: I know Britain would love that
(03/01 22:44:06) Andrew Yosso cheers
(03/01 22:44:07) rsjm: They didn't say the 5 would be forever - in fact, they didn't say a "term limit" did they?
(03/01 22:44:09) zam: That would be a mess
(03/01 22:44:16) Andrew Yosso: Sure we would
(03/01 22:44:17) Vormaen: not yet
(03/01 22:44:17) Daryl Huhn: Zam, but lets be fair, this is not a presidental election
(03/01 22:44:18) rsjm: I suppose someone should ask that
(03/01 22:44:24) zam: Every month a new president lol
(03/01 22:44:26) ireenquench: some kind of rotation sounds good, short term offices, if we would have to provide those reps, or decide to.
(03/01 22:44:27) Julian Lapis: No. This isnt going to be rigged, for one thing
(03/01 22:44:28) Andrew Yosso: Yup
(03/01 22:44:32) zam: Nope it is not
(03/01 22:44:46) zam: It is why we should even be more cool about it
(03/01 22:44:47) Daryl Huhn: I really like that idea of rotation
(03/01 22:44:47) rsjm: But if you can't choose 5 once, is it easier to choose 5 10 times?
(03/01 22:44:50) Vormaen: I like the idea of applicants
(03/01 22:44:56) rsjm: I don't know - tough one.
(03/01 22:44:56) Julian Lapis: Thats the problem
(03/01 22:45:03) Daryl Huhn: rsjm, this is the problem as I see it
(03/01 22:45:20) Daryl Huhn: We have no system for choosing the initial 5 yet
(03/01 22:45:28) ireenquench: Oh we can just chose over and over angain, the process part is difficult, how to chose.
(03/01 22:45:37) Daryl Huhn: Once we do, I think choosing a second set will be easier
(03/01 22:45:49) Vormaen: in fact it's a mess the decision on how to vote is out of control
(03/01 22:45:51) Julian Lapis: Thats true
(03/01 22:46:03) Julian Lapis: Most of the current debate stems from the system choice
(03/01 22:46:09) zam: That would not be easier even if we do rotation
(03/01 22:46:10) rsjm: Right, debate is good though
(03/01 22:46:20) Julian Lapis: Currently the trend is on the Aussie system
(03/01 22:46:21) zam: There will still be debate about voting
(03/01 22:46:29) ireenquench: I think we'll get there, the system choice is very important.
(03/01 22:46:29) Julian Lapis: Proportional I think it is?
(03/01 22:46:39) Daryl Huhn: Zam: Which is what must be agreed upon first
(03/01 22:46:41) zam: Or do you want to roate so evry single people can be a representative at one point?
(03/01 22:47:13) zam: If we want evryone to enjoy being a representétive we should have a new rotation evry day lol
(03/01 22:47:19) Vormaen: No, NOOB is disrespectful, say newbies
(03/01 22:47:23) Daryl Huhn: I still say have a voting system, however like our presidental elections...they have a term in office, to speak.
(03/01 22:47:37) Julian Lapis: But surely that would turn it into a popularity contest?
(03/01 22:47:46) Vormaen: it would
(03/01 22:48:08) rsjm: At some point, people are going to have to say why they feel they are the best for the position right?
(03/01 22:48:13) zam: Like evry election is
(03/01 22:48:16) Julian Lapis: Yeah
(03/01 22:48:24) ireenquench: For one thing, I am against nominations, I would go for applyance, then preferetial, for a set of 20 , then lottery.
(03/01 22:48:25) zam: But popularity is not so bad
(03/01 22:48:27) Julian Lapis: They've gotta have some merit
(03/01 22:48:30) rsjm: But obviously, people with lots of friends get lots of votes
(03/01 22:48:35) Julian Lapis: And be relativly known to the community
(03/01 22:48:39) Julian Lapis: Thats the point
(03/01 22:48:40) rsjm: but...they have lots of friends for a reason
(03/01 22:48:48) zam: If someone is populars that must meand he is goos at communicating and it is why many people like him or her
(03/01 22:48:53) Julian Lapis: True
(03/01 22:48:53) Daryl Huhn: True, but I always thought that was going to be inevitable going into this
(03/01 22:48:55) Vormaen: Hmmmmm. I wish it was based on merit
(03/01 22:49:13) Julian Lapis: And if the whole point is communicating between the two, then someone who is known would do it better
(03/01 22:49:48) Daryl Huhn: What really matters over all is, and I thin kwe might be forgetting this, is who here can be truly impartial and listen to ALL views that we have? I know there is quite a few just in this collective.
(03/01 22:49:50) Vormaen: So
(03/01 22:49:57) Julian Lapis: I just think it boils down to someone who is known, someone who represents the community
(03/01 22:50:06) FreeLanZer: There is one right here.. hehe
(03/01 22:50:08) Julian Lapis: And someone who would do the job right
(03/01 22:50:09) FreeLanZer points
(03/01 22:50:13) Vormaen: You think that popular people are the answer?
(03/01 22:50:15) Andrew Yosso: seems real to me
(03/01 22:50:17) ireenquench: I don't think it would need to be someone known, just someone who sets aside all personal agendas, and that is hard, we all come to the cavern with personal agendas on what we think exploring is about.
(03/01 22:50:26) Julian Lapis: No, but it should be at least a considering factor
(03/01 22:50:29) Daryl Huhn: True enough
(03/01 22:51:00) Julian Lapis: But once we get a system in place, and it works, then the hard part is over
(03/01 22:52:00) Daryl Huhn: *shrugs* Now I personally still feel once we get a solid system in place for deciding, weither it be votes or w/e...the rotational cycle could start. I just feel that is fair to the community as a whole.
(03/01 22:52:16) Julian Lapis: Sounds good to me chief
(03/01 22:52:35) Andrew Yosso: Me too
(03/01 22:52:39) FreeLanZer: Same here
(03/01 22:52:43) Andrew Yosso cheers
(03/01 22:52:43) zam: Why not vote for 5 people first and if we are all happy with them i dodn't think we should rotate?
(03/01 22:52:46) Daryl Huhn: I have no clue what we will decide collectively as far as the voting process goes though
(03/01 22:52:58) ireenquench: Yes, once we've found a sensible system its gonna be ok I hope.
(03/01 22:52:59) tux (I'm on the surface, be back in a minute):
(03/01 22:52:59) Daryl Huhn: Good point Zam
(03/01 22:53:04) Vormaen: We will have to wait for a response I guess
(03/01 22:53:07) Julian Lapis: You cannot deny that the fact they're in a position to allow such a connection is a sign of good things
(03/01 22:53:10) zam: This rotation lloks like more "hehe i want to have a mmeting with the DRc myself and so more selfinterested"
(03/01 22:53:31) rsjm: Rotation or not, there have to be a first 5 which means a system.
(03/01 22:53:39) Daryl Huhn: Correct
(03/01 22:53:41) Julian Lapis: I agree
(03/01 22:53:50) Albert: yes
(03/01 22:53:54) rsjm: So a system seems the priority.
(03/01 22:53:55) Julian Lapis: Dont worry. We'll work on it
(03/01 22:53:56) Daryl Huhn: Totally spot on...but we need to decide the system for the system....
(03/01 22:54:04) zam: Yes rsjm and it is why eople should focuse on the designing system much more than on the rotation thingie
(03/01 22:54:05) ireenquench: yes, and I think a lottery of a preselected larger group is a good idea.
(03/01 22:54:14) Julian Lapis: A system of a system?
(03/01 22:54:20) Julian Lapis: Blimey
(03/01 22:54:21) Vormaen: I hope you're right RSJM, I don't much agree with reps, but if it has to be.....
(03/01 22:54:42) zam: I vote for cyan members to be our representatives lol
(03/01 22:54:43) Daryl Huhn: Yup Julian, as odd as it sounds
(03/01 22:54:51) zam: Then no fights and no jealousy
(03/01 22:54:54) zam roars with laughter
(03/01 22:55:06) Julian Lapis: It would put us on an equal level with the DRC
(03/01 22:55:12) Julian Lapis: Something I think is VERY important
(03/01 22:55:22) rsjm: Agree.
(03/01 22:55:24) Julian Lapis: if theres any chance of progress down here
(03/01 22:55:43) zam: We won'"t take any decision tonight julian
(03/01 22:55:43) Julian Lapis: Because lets face it, we haven't got very far without them
(03/01 22:55:47) zam: We are only a few
(03/01 22:55:58) Karlsson: A progress is somethin different..
(03/01 22:56:01) zam: We can't decide on behalf the others
(03/01 22:56:05) Julian Lapis: Of course not
(03/01 22:56:12) rsjm: Well, good luck guys.
(03/01 22:56:14) ireenquench: How can we ever be on an equal level with DRC? They control stuff and we are used to either want to befriend them or disagree withtheir control.
(03/01 22:56:19) Julian Lapis: That would be fascism, and is frowned upon in most countries
(03/01 22:56:20) rsjm: I better get running.
(03/01 22:56:26) zam: And what we are discussing is the same that was in the posts
(03/01 22:56:28) Andrew Yosso: shorah rsjm
(03/01 22:56:32) Julian Lapis: Kay rsjm
(03/01 22:56:33) rsjm: talk to you later
(03/01 22:56:34) Andrew Yosso waves
(03/01 22:56:37) Julian Lapis: You take care now
(03/01 22:56:38) Andrew Yosso claps his hands
(03/01 22:56:39) Daryl Huhn: Fairwell rsjm
(03/01 22:56:40) Albert: bye
(03/01 22:56:41) zam waves
(03/01 22:56:43) Amarok: Bye
(03/01 22:56:44) ireenquench: thanks for the visit ryan
(03/01 22:56:44) zam: Byeeeee
(03/01 22:56:46) Julian Lapis waves
(03/01 22:56:49) Vormaen: that was Ryan right?
(03/01 22:56:49) Annick: bye
(03/01 22:56:50) ireenquench waves
(03/01 22:57:08) Julian Lapis: Anyone recorded that?
(03/01 22:57:08) zam: Yes it was
(03/01 22:57:13) Julian Lapis: Got a log?
(03/01 22:57:14) Andrew Yosso: Not me sorry
(03/01 22:57:14) ireenquench: I did.

Danke für den Chatlog ireen. :thumbleft:

Wir all bleiben vorsichtig optimistisch.

:thumbleft:

Eben war Marie Sutherland, Mitglied des DRC, in Ae'gura. Sie war nicht sehr lange da. Hab aber ein Bild geschossen und mitgeloggt.

Hier der Log ...

[hide](03/14 22:52:35) Chat.log aktiviert...
(03/14 22:52:38) Marie Sutherland: hello, everyone
(03/14 22:53:06) Rils: hows it goin?
(03/14 22:53:06) Rbnh00d222: How are you doing? I assume you're keeping very busy these days.
(03/14 22:53:06) Jonnee: Shorah, Marie
(03/14 22:53:36) Jonnee: I'll go for a walk, Axel...
(03/14 22:53:40) Rils: drc keeping busy?
(03/14 22:53:58) Marie Sutherland: yes, very busy. I have a meeting in about ten minutes, actually.
(03/14 22:54:20) Rils: That's good. Hows the funding coming?
(03/14 22:54:29) Marie Sutherland: I just wanted to stop by because people are still sending me private messages about the liaisons.
(03/14 22:54:32) An ireenquench: sie hat ein Meeting in 10 min
(03/14 22:54:39) Von ireenquench in DRC Plus (2) Neighborhood: oh mann
(03/14 22:54:46) Rils: we're getting anxious about that!
(03/14 22:55:02) Marie Sutherland: I stopped by a few days ago and had a brief chat with a few people, but it seems the word was not spread effectively.
(03/14 22:55:53) Rils: looking*
(03/14 22:56:02) darkstar: I assume you talking about getting more explorers into the cavern?
(03/14 22:56:04) Marie Sutherland: So I'll attempt to address them again. Apologies that I'm so short on time.
(03/14 22:56:15) Rils: No worries, we understand!
(03/14 22:56:43) darkstar: Start chat log
(03/14 22:56:47) darkstar: Opps
(03/14 22:57:00) Marie Sutherland: timeline - intentionally not set by the DRC. A few weeks or months is fine with us.
(03/14 22:57:14) Rils: I think we're getting close to finishing things up
(03/14 22:57:20) Doris: That's a rather large spread.
(03/14 22:57:37) Axel winkt
(03/14 22:57:50) Rils: true, no hurry?
(03/14 22:58:17) darkstar: a clearer definition of what you your looking would be helpful
(03/14 22:58:30) Marie Sutherland: as far as duties of the liaisons. We're very flexible on those as well.
(03/14 22:58:42) Doris: You have no expectations?
(03/14 22:58:55) Rils: were you thinking more or a messenger role, or something else?
(03/14 22:59:06) Marie Sutherland: The main idea is that they'll be passing on information from the DRC to the explorers, and from the Explorers to the DRC.
(03/14 22:59:30) darkstar: Ok so literally liasons then
(03/14 22:59:40) Rils: sounds reasonable. There is some confusion between "liaison" and "representatives"
(03/14 22:59:57) Marie Sutherland: term limits, and rotation we're leaving in your hands. Again, we're trying to be flexible.
(03/14 23:00:19) Rils: fair enough
(03/14 23:00:30) darkstar: Case of power to the people then in a manner of speaking
(03/14 23:00:39) Doris: If what you are looking for is essentially messengers, why isn't the fourm sufficient for that purpose?
(03/14 23:01:21) Marie Sutherland: Yes. Liaisons. The forums are good for many things, but there are times when a matter...
(03/14 23:01:52) Marie Sutherland: is better to be discussed in real time, and it is difficult to do that in large groups here in the CAvern.
(03/14 23:02:05) Doris: Understood.
(03/14 23:02:13) Ivy: true
(03/14 23:02:15) darkstar: I can see that makes sense
(03/14 23:02:29) Rils: too many voices clog things up!
(03/14 23:02:39) Doris: Are you refering to time sensitive issues or others as well?
(03/14 23:02:54) darkstar: its good that there maybe something to discuss!
(03/14 23:03:00) Marie Sutherland: Thanks again for your patience with us. We're kind of winging things as well at the moment.
(03/14 23:03:16) Rils: No problem. We are too!
(03/14 23:03:28) darkstar: been there done that so we understand how that works
(03/14 23:03:33) Rils: Sometimes we wish we had more to wing on, hopefully this'll help
(03/14 23:04:10) Marie Sutherland: I'll try to return when I have more time, but I do need to be going now.
(03/14 23:04:11) darkstar: well the fat lady aint sung yet
(03/14 23:04:11) Marie Sutherland: sorry.
(03/14 23:04:11) Soosi waves
(03/14 23:04:13) Soosi: Hello all!
(03/14 23:04:14) Rils: no problem, we appreciate your time!
(03/14 23:04:15) Marie Sutherland: take care.
(03/14 23:04:15) Rbnh00d222: Aww. Well come back soon. We all have so many questions.
(03/14 23:04:17) Marie Sutherland waves
(03/14 23:04:21) Rils: you too!
(03/14 23:04:30) darkstar: pLeased to have meet you I look forward to a longer conversation sometime
(03/14 23:04:48) Rils: well, that was helpful
(03/14 23:04:54) darkstar: hope your meeting goes well
(03/14 23:05:03) ...Chat.log gestoppt.
