[11/04 19:45:59] Reteltee: Now, remembering the relatively long average lifespan of the D'ni, 7104 was relatively soon after the Council began ruling instead of the King; one, maybe two generations
[11/04 19:46:30] Reteltee: Of course, that's human generations, of about 30 years
[11/04 19:47:27] Reteltee: The D;ni didn't necessarily measure time in such wys, but I want to give the clear picture; the rulership of the Guilds at this time was young, fresh, and in many cases, uncertain
[11/04 19:48:57] Reteltee: Now it seems, that when the COuncil was young, there came a threat to the Cavern. What this threat was, I cannot for sure ascertain...the records I've been using are both unclear, and at times, incomplete
[11/04 19:49:25] Reteltee: It could have been problems with Ages; it could have been seismic activity in the Cavern
[11/04 19:49:35] Reteltee: Or, it could have been an invasion
[11/04 19:49:40] Reteltee: I do not honestly know
[11/04 19:49:57] Reteltee: However, the Guilds were tasked with discovering a solution, that much is clear
[11/04 19:50:12] [Moderator]moirajane: ( if you have a question for Reteltee please pm me with the WORD "question")
[11/04 19:51:26] [Moderator]moirajane: ( I will put your name in a queue Thank you)
[11/04 19:52:25] Reteltee: Unfortunately, it seems they were not yet ready for such thiIt took nearly forty years for the Council to even agree on a method of discovery!
[11/04 19:52:43] Reteltee: *thing; it tookk
[11/04 19:52:55] Reteltee: Please forgive the typos; I'm lagging quite hard
[11/04 19:52:56] [Moderator]moirajane: ( Please have your questions pre-typed so You will be ready when I call your name)
[11/04 19:53:04] T.S: wow
[11/04 19:53:19] Reteltee: In that forty years time, many people died
[11/04 19:53:26] [Relayer] Sira: (if everyone sits, the lag might improve some)
[11/04 19:53:41] Reteltee: And it seemed, for a time, that Kerath's wisdom was in fact folly
[11/04 19:54:10] Reteltee: But, there was redemption on the horizon
[11/04 19:54:52] Moleculor: Wow, why so many people here?
[11/04 19:55:17] Goloth: shhh
[11/04 19:55:22] Trevor1013: Reteltee the Guild Advisor is giving a speech
[11/04 19:55:27] Reteltee: An elder Guildsman, whose name is lost to history, hit upon an idea...one which was to change the face of the Guild Council forever
[11/04 19:56:09] Reteltee: I will insert a caveat here; I believe the reason that this Guildsmans name is lost to history, is because there wasn't really a single man who came up with this idea
[11/04 19:56:33] Reteltee: However, the Council needed, in telling this story, a lightening rod to draw both accolade and criticism
[11/04 19:56:46] Reteltee: lightning rod, that is
[11/04 19:57:01] Reteltee: So they invented a 'nameless Guildsman' to be just that
[11/04 19:58:02] Reteltee: In any case, the idea was this; ask the people
[11/04 19:58:12] Reteltee: What we might call, a referendum
[11/04 19:58:30] Reteltee: Now please, understand how revolutionary this was at this time
[11/04 19:59:16] Reteltee: The Council, like the King before them, had ruled largely independently of the people. Not that the common D'ni were completely uninvolved, but they had never had a real voice...until this time
[11/04 20:00:09] [Moderator]moirajane: (For all new arrivees--If you have a question for Reteltee. please PM me with the WORD question and I will put you in the queue. Please have your question pre-typed so you will be ready when I call your name. Thanks)
[11/04 20:00:13] Reteltee: The Council (the the guilse of this elder Guildsman) had reasoned that since it was the people who were suffering, it should be the people who determined how to end the crisis
[11/04 20:00:22] Reteltee: *guise
[11/04 20:01:23] Reteltee: So, the Council brought in the people, from the commoners and lay-people, to the highest ranking Guildsman, and some form (the record is not clear) of vote took place
[11/04 20:02:36] Reteltee: And...well, unfortunately, that's about all I've been able to ascertain about the crisis itself. By the time the records begin to become cohereant again, it's nearly 50 years later, and the crisis had apparently been resolved
[11/04 20:02:53] Reteltee: However, I do have some conclusion, which I will now share
[11/04 20:03:52] Reteltee: First, this shows that there was a time, though it was long, long ago, when the Guilds knew how to listen to the people...even (perhaps, though it isn't clear, especially) those who were NOT members of a Guild
[11/04 20:04:24] Reteltee: It also shows that the Guilds recognized this need very early on in their existence, though it took a mounting crisis to reveal it to them
[11/04 20:05:11] Reteltee: Further, it illustrates just how far from the original intent the D;ni Guilds had fallen, at the time of the Fall
[11/04 20:05:32] Reteltee: Which brings me to my final conclusion, and then I'll start taking questions
[11/04 20:06:39] Reteltee: We Explorers, should not fear making the Guilds strong, and enduring. We should know that it IS possible for us to have a robust Guild system, and still be attuned to the needs and desires of non-Guild members
[11/04 20:06:57] Pituka klatscht.
[11/04 20:07:01] groath klatscht.
[11/04 20:07:05] Reteltee: We should know that we can make this grand experiment succeed
[11/04 20:07:12] groath jubelt.

[11/04 20:07:14] T.S nickt.

[11/04 20:08:09] [Moderator]moirajane: DocOlanA has the first question
[11/04 20:08:11] Reteltee: Thank your for your patience and attention friends; I now open the floor to questions, through my dear friends the moderators
[11/04 20:08:13] T.S: great job,reteltee
[11/04 20:08:21] Wiz thanks Reteltee for the research and sharing this
[11/04 20:08:22] DocOlanA: First, thank you very much. I'm assuming that you have these sources from the DRC, sources that as of yet are unavailable to us. Can you tell us as much as possible about these sources? Were they historical journals, commentaries, speeches, what?
[11/04 20:08:26] Trevor1013: Great job reteltee!
[11/04 20:08:38] T.S jubelt.
[11/04 20:08:42] Nonphat: Very nice presentation!
[11/04 20:08:46] Nonphat klatscht.
[11/04 20:09:05] Venenum_Absum: yes very nice...
[11/04 20:09:11] Reteltee: Much of what I have learned is avaiblable to the public; mostly, I drew inferences from the historigraphy which is curently available. Much of historical research is reading between the lines ;)
[11/04 20:09:16] [Moderator]moirajane: (Goloth you are next)
[11/04 20:09:19] Reteltee: (Thank you everyone for your kind words)
[11/04 20:09:22] Reteltee: xt?
[11/04 20:09:30] Reteltee: *Next?
[11/04 20:09:35] Goloth: Reteltee,
[11/04 20:09:37] Venenum_Absum: Reiko I did the traditional cooking method of 40 30 and 20
[11/04 20:09:38] [Moderator]moirajane: Golath has the next question
[11/04 20:10:05] [Moderator]moirajane: Goloth?
[11/04 20:10:15] Goloth: The DRC seems to be disappearing and even though there are still members, with the DRC losing it's funding, it looks like the . . .
[11/04 20:10:30] Goloth: DRC will not be funtioning . . .
[11/04 20:10:31] T.S schaut sich ein wenig die Gegend an.
[11/04 20:10:48] Goloth: Will the Guilds become the new leaders?
[11/04 20:10:56] Goloth: Or will there be another leader of sorts?
[11/04 20:11:31] Reteltee: My hope is that the Guilds will be able to step in and fill the gap
[11/04 20:11:58] Reteltee: Next?
[11/04 20:12:00] [Moderator]moirajane: Ireenquench has the next question
[11/04 20:12:01] Goloth: Thank you Reteltee
[11/04 20:12:04] ireenquench: Reteltee, your conclusion was very short, after what seemed a complex course of events. What are your main points about the analogy again? Voting is good or bad? Asking the public for advice is good or bad? Which measür the COuncil took was good, which strayed?
[11/04 20:12:58] Reteltee: Vting (provided it means listening to the will of the people, *ahem*)=good. Asking for advice=VERY good
[11/04 20:13:58] Reteltee: As far as the Council measure, could you be more specific?
[11/04 20:14:28] ireenquench: You mentioned they had strayed from the original guild concept, and that sounded "bad"
[11/04 20:14:36] Reteltee: Oh, yes
[11/04 20:14:50] Reteltee: At the time of the Fall, the D'ni Guilds were merely a shadow of what they were intended to be
[11/04 20:15:34] Reteltee: They wre bastions of the rich, elite, and powerful D'ni, as opposed to the repositories of the talented, driven, hard-working D'ni who had made the Empire what it was in the first place
[11/04 20:16:31] Reteltee: The Guilds (and I say this with no small measure of disgust) had usurped the D;ni citezenry's rightful place. As long as I draw breath, I will work to ensure that NEVER happens to the Explorers
[11/04 20:16:51] Pituka klatscht.
[11/04 20:17:03] Kotter klatscht.
[11/04 20:17:05] Nonphat jubelt.
[11/04 20:17:07] T.S nickt.

[11/04 20:17:13] Hannauru nickt.
[11/04 20:17:14] William Clark klatscht.
[11/04 20:17:15] Katelin0 jubelt.
[11/04 20:17:20] Calla Ayden jubelt.
[11/04 20:17:22] Dimitrios ist begeistert.
[11/04 20:17:27] Josue klatscht.
[11/04 20:17:32] 33mike nods my head
[11/04 20:17:34] Reteltee: There were, no doubt, good men and women in the Guilds at the time of the Fall. But Veovis was NOT the exception of a Guildsman at the time of the Fall; Aitrus was
[11/04 20:17:34] janaba klatscht.
[11/04 20:17:55] Ti'chelle klatscht.
[11/04 20:18:01] Reteltee: Sorry, slight tangent, but dös that answer ireen?
[11/04 20:18:58] Reteltee: Next?
[11/04 20:19:01] [Moderator]moirajane: Valdez has the next question
[11/04 20:19:02] ireenquench: I understand you meant the Coucil strayed in a good way
[11/04 20:19:05] My'key: Aitrus was not alone...
[11/04 20:19:06] Valdez: Was "The Five" also ruling with the coucil at the time, or were they formulated at a later date? And that was an excellent spech I will have to add.
[11/04 20:20:56] Reteltee: Thanks Valdez; originally, the Council was NOT ruled by the F
[11/04 20:21:01] Reteltee: *Five
[11/04 20:21:19] Valdez: was that just corruptness then?
[11/04 20:21:28] Reteltee: That was a modification, as I understand it, added at a somewhat later date; I don't have the date on the top of my head
[11/04 20:22:13] Reteltee: I don't know if it was corruption per se....it certainly fragmented the ruling process more, making it (in my opinion) easier for corruption to set in
[11/04 20:22:43] Reteltee: Next?
[11/04 20:22:45] [Moderator]moirajane: Lontahv is up next
[11/04 20:22:51] Lontahv: Retetee: The Guilds need training ages to survive. The Cartographers have Minkata, the Maintainers have Gahreesen. What about the Writers and Messengers? Are there even D'ni ages that survive for that function? Or are there plans to create some ages for that use? Can the DRC/leaders in the cavern even write ages?
[11/04 20:23:25] Reteltee: Great point/question Lon...at this point, I don't know the answer :(
[11/04 20:23:43] Reteltee: Next?
[11/04 20:23:46] [Moderator]moirajane: Pryftan your question please
[11/04 20:23:50] Pryftan: Reteltee, there's been a lot of discussion lately about trying to get the DRC to allow a group such as the GoW to "restore" an Age, much like they gave Teledahn to Sharper.. that way even if the DRC disappears, restoration of old D'ni Ages as well as the Writing of new Ages can continü. Can we have your support in talking to the DRC about that?
[11/04 20:24:27] Reteltee: Absolutely Pry...though, who knows if it will even be the DRC who determines that now....maybe it'll just be up to us
[11/04 20:24:40] Reteltee: Neverthelesss, what I can do, I will do, as always
[11/04 20:24:47] Pryftan: Thank you.
[11/04 20:24:52] Maurus möchte eine Frage stellen ...
[11/04 20:24:53] Reteltee: My pleasure
[11/04 20:24:56] Reteltee: Next?
[11/04 20:25:02] [Moderator]moirajane: DocOlanA has a follow up question
[11/04 20:26:01] Reteltee: (an aside; I presume someone [or multiple someones] is/are chatlogging?)
[11/04 20:26:10] DocOlanA: If most of your sources were those currently available to the explorers, would you mind breaking it down for us, and tell us what parts of the existing sources you used to draw your conclusions, so that other scholars might continü with such studies?
[11/04 20:26:16] Nonphat: I am
[11/04 20:26:23] T.S: good
[11/04 20:26:26] William Clark: (I got a part of your speech and the questions so far)
[11/04 20:26:26] Reteltee: (greath, thanks)
[11/04 20:26:46] Wiz: ok
[11/04 20:26:51] Nonphat: (i've got the whole thing and i'll post it on the forums as soon as its over.)
[11/04 20:26:56] Pryftan: (I logged the whlö speech)
[11/04 20:27:07] Valdez: (as did I)
[11/04 20:27:22] [Moderator]moirajane: (If you have a question for Reteltee please PM me withthe word "Qüstion" and I will put you in the queue. Thx)
[11/04 20:27:54] Reteltee: I would love to Doc, though it would be long and tedious...perhaps we can shleve that for a more approriate venü/time? That's an open invitation to anyone
[11/04 20:28:15] Reteltee: Boy, the lag is killing my typing today; sincere apologies everyone
[11/04 20:28:15] DocOlanA: Well, I know you're on forums. Would you be willing to post your research on one of the forums later?
[11/04 20:28:19] DocOlanA: UO, or the main forums?
[11/04 20:28:27] ireenquench: Reteltee there are no known sources about the 7000s
[11/04 20:28:39] Reteltee: I think I could do that Doc, though I've no idea how soon..just keep bugging me about it :D
[11/04 20:28:51] DocOlanA: Don't worry, I'll bug you constantly about it :)
[11/04 20:29:12] [Moderator]moirajane: Trevor 1013 has the next question
[11/04 20:29:14] T.S beginnt zu lachen.
[11/04 20:29:14] DocOlanA: Something like that would be an excellent example for the Guild of Archivists, showing how we can learn more about the D'ni by analyzing existing materials.
[11/04 20:29:19] Reteltee: Next?
[11/04 20:29:22] Trevor1013: Have you found any information in your research about how the Bahro we're involved in Guild decisions? I mean, were there laws, rules, or debates regarding them?
[11/04 20:29:33] Dakro: I beat it, I needed Jeff to help me with a small part of it though, but for the most part I got threw it pretty quick, it is an AMAZING age
[11/04 20:29:42] Dakro: Ohh yikes that was supposed to be a pm, eck, sorry Reteltee :D
[11/04 20:30:01] Reteltee: I have been looking for such things Trevor, but to date have found nothing but a deafening silence
[11/04 20:30:10] Reteltee: (No worries DAk, I still like your hat)
[11/04 20:30:15] Trevor1013: Interesting
[11/04 20:30:24] T.S: hahaha
[11/04 20:30:26] Dakro: Indeed
[11/04 20:30:37] Reteltee: Next?
[11/04 20:30:38] [Moderator]moirajane: Ireenquench has a follow up
[11/04 20:30:39] Trevor1013: I've always been interested as to why they haven't come up in such matters
[11/04 20:30:41] Lontahv: We sould have a sign outside this room that says "please turn neighbor-Chat off before entering this room, Thank you!"
[11/04 20:30:43] Trevor1013: Thanks
[11/04 20:30:44] ireenquench: Do you have any idea who is going to teach explorers the gahrohevtee language?
[11/04 20:30:56] Dafydd Thomas: Ben jij hier ook?
[11/04 20:31:02] Reteltee: I don't ireen, though that's an excellent question
[11/04 20:31:18] Reteltee: If anyone comes across a copy of the Rehevkor...let us all know ;)
[11/04 20:31:31] Dafydd Thomas: Oops sorry, had to be a PM
[11/04 20:31:32] Reteltee: *;)
[11/04 20:31:35] ireenquench: Whats your güss... Yeesha? Or the DRC?
[11/04 20:31:41] Valdez: ask Atrus
[11/04 20:31:55] Reteltee: Both...neither, I honestly don't know. Mebbe the Bahro
[11/04 20:31:56] Valdez: I am sure he has one
[11/04 20:32:16] Reteltee: Next?
[11/04 20:32:17] [Moderator]moirajane: Overdrive has the next question
[11/04 20:33:12] T.S schaut sich ein wenig die Gegend an.
[11/04 20:33:23] Trevor1013: Thank you for the speech Ret! Bye for now!
[11/04 20:33:25] [Moderator]moirajane: Is he still here?
[11/04 20:33:33] Reteltee: Thank you Trevor
[11/04 20:33:43] [Moderator]moirajane: Thend is up then
[11/04 20:33:45] Reteltee: Next?
[11/04 20:33:49] Thend: Reteltee, as Explorers will be Writing Ages eventually, where is and can we see the Garohevtee language, and the formulas for making Inks & Paper for the Books? Seems like this would be an excellent starting point in the meantime until actual Age Writing occurs. And why initiate a Guild of Writers (no offense meant towards the GoW) in the first place if these materials are essentially unknowns to the DRC (if this is the case)?
[11/04 20:34:04] Reteltee: reply Lol
[11/04 20:34:09] Reteltee: Oops
[11/04 20:34:13] Reteltee: Thend
[11/04 20:34:18] Thend beginnt zu lachen.
[11/04 20:34:20] Reteltee: As always, great points
[11/04 20:34:36] Reteltee: I'll address them one by one in order
[11/04 20:35:49] [Moderator]moirajane: (Any more questions for Reteltee? Please pm me with the WORD "question")
[11/04 20:35:50] Reteltee: I do not know of any place currently where one can find specific examples of the gahrohevtee, and I'm unsure as to the surviving existence of the Ink and Paper formulä
[11/04 20:36:55] Lontahv: Bye Reteltee. Thanks again. : )
[11/04 20:37:39] Reteltee: as to why begin a Guild of Writers now? They were one of the most important Guilds in the D'ni Empire, and I felt, when the DRC asked me for my suggestions, that they deserved recognition and a place in the Cavern now. But Writers can do more than just write Ages...in many ways, they are the soul of D;ni. Their imagination, and spirit, helped create links to some of the most beautiful worlds we have ever seen (like Er'Cana, and Ahonay)
[11/04 20:38:38] Reteltee: I think the Writers can do amazing things aside from just the Art
[11/04 20:39:08] ireenquench ist ein wenig verwirrt.
[11/04 20:39:08] Reteltee: Right, I have time for one more question, anyone?
[11/04 20:39:13] [Moderator]moirajane: Maurus has the last question
[11/04 20:39:16] groath: What is the next step for the guilds ? or what tools will we recieve to further the guilds? also the question every one has is what about the maintaners suits are we closer to getting them?
[11/04 20:39:26] Maurus: reteltee, THis may have been already asked in some way or another, but I just want to be certain- do you have any advice for us explorers now? That is to say, based on this information, what do you think we should do possibly to assist with our current crisis?
[11/04 20:39:26] groath: Ops sorry...
[11/04 20:39:26] Thend: Thank you for your answer Reteltee
[11/04 20:39:32] Reteltee: Anytime Thend
[11/04 20:39:58] [Moderator]moirajane: Maurus had the last question Reteltee
[11/04 20:40:09] groath: My bad soory agin...
[11/04 20:40:13] Reteltee: My advice to the Explorers is this; continü building the Guilds; continü collaborating and cooperating with one another

Was ist da bloss wieder los?
